(OKA) Under the title 5 good tips for the newer HC guys to know, retired General and living Legend Dinker gave the new High Commanders some advice back in february 2008: " S! hc guys. For those that dont know me im an ol retired hc guy that has been meaning to post some secret tips from my long experience as a squad XO and former division officer witin the 12th Armee to which many i learnt the hard way by trial and error that i felt i should share. Some of these tips might seem silly to some of yous but trust me they really work ive died alot, been pmed dirty words and flat out been pwned in order to discover some of these basic secrets/tips that are effective. First but not least one thing ive noticed especially during allied prime time i see happen alot that i wanted to stress is:"
1. when going for an nme forward base which alot of hc spend there time doing when outnumbered....the standard thing you see is a .axis message " msp open for x fb blah blah".... now this fb is obviously important every axis player (or allied visitor) has just seen the .axis for help. now theres no doubt you will get help on the Foward base but sometimes and often this help turns out to be a complete waste of supply that only entertains the nme deffending the fb that was before luke warm and now smoking hot with mercs a charging/shooting...so tip 1 is never ever ask or get a .axis on a nme forward base that is deffended on an obviously high priorty allied atack use a few guys from the brigade or mission channel and take your time go together and hit it at the same time.
2. whats the most important thing to do when trying to lead a deffence? well many will say guard the spawn or guard the bunker and both of those are pretty good options but ive found out that if your the oic really and truley somtimes losing the spawn cp and letting the atk happen is a good thing what you want is (for the nme to maintain there attack at a level where your entertained but effective if your deffence is to stuburn the nme will more than likley warp to a deffence or another attack somewhere else which if you think about it can even hurt your sides other ongoing attacks food for thought)..bottom line though is that you COMMUNICATE whats happening to the players spawning in and the best way to do this is not from the cp or bunker....really it is from outside of town preferably from a well place hidden deffensive MS where you can give INFO as early and accurately as possible...you will be amaized at just how effective everyone is if you are typing/updating pming the guys you see on your map can be when you do this..i learnt this years ago one day i decided screw the spawn cp im gonna lay in the church high up and watch everthing come in and man o man was everyone getting good kills except me of course lol but it was sure fun seeing the results of good info/warning giving the deffenders plenty of time to set up.
The only exception to this advice is knowing if the attack comming is just a mole attack..this takes a nose and some understanding of whats going on currently in game to predict so if you can grasp the mole attacks and predict them well your best bet on them is in fact to be stubbrun by holding the cps/abs so that they either give up or forced to bring more to entertain you.
3. how best to lead an attack?really the same can be said as i just mentioned on the deffence your best bet is to get somewhere with best view on the town preferably the AB as highly elevated as possible so you can see as much going on....from there if you can try and get at least 2 msps going 1 Should ALWAYS...be set up in the direction that your tanks and atgs are comming in to keep EI off the tanks and friendly atgs and the other should be set up with the priority to belive it or not Kill Atgs and mark nme if you can do this and Communicate whats going on well along with PM players you see that might be in danger you will see alot of good things happen eventually... now never make the mistake of screaming we need this spawn cp or we need that to early and often becuase trust me most players already know this and are trying to cap them so they dont have to walk there lazy virtual butts to town, if the attack is good the spawns will eventually be capped so really unless you want to rally a few smgs to cover it theres no use in screaming that you need it everyone knows this already it will happen in time if all other things as mentioned are going ok....also never be affraid to back off town some back to the fb Area if deffence is good....often switching gears becoming more defensive and letting them come to you is a good thing even at the fb youll be suprised at how many attacks can go from crap to wow they comming to fb and wasting there supply now to we have a renewed attack (as long as theres players killing stuff there having fun fb or town) so if fb is boring you need to pick on town again so thell entertain you not by you going to them in a zerg but picking on them just enough to force them out to you (cat and mouse) perhaps at your fb or into your ambush outside of town...remember move those attacks points dont be emberassed if you have to move them far out that just means you got a good fight is all which is a good thing if everyone is aware
4. defending an fb...often when an important FB gets hit if the deffence is good your really better off not killing the nme truck...if you can mark it and do .orders for someone to drive a 232 to it and just kill the sappers spawning out of it ...youd be suprised at just how many sappers will be dead to some HC guy who just did a .allied to blow your fb and 232 suprise in minutes youve killed 30 of the 50 towns supply of sappers and your possible attack has just become way easier.
5. .orders really are useful dont be affraid to change them....if your not accomplishing what you want change them to somthing that you or the players helping can realistically do...ww2ol is a unique game and noone likes to die always remember this the one who shifts gears best and predicts the other ones moves/number concentration/posistion best is usually the winner hereS! dinker aka dirk dinkler.
